Where I live, I know many of a young man that are aspiring to be a "rapper" and I'm not knocking any of them but out of the many I've heard only a few stand out. Most sound very amateur but they do put their hearts in it. I support them no matter if I like it or not only because I know they would do the same for me. Having said that I have to give a shout out to my friend DeAngelo Lomax-Singleton, AKA DLo, AKA Gentleman Swami. Whatever you want to call him make sure you put "watch out for" in front of it.
He's a soft spoken man when you first get to know him but that is not the case when he is rapping. His writing is quite good as well as his delivery. The beats are also good and very well done. I'm not completely positive who made them but I do know its from L.T.N.T. Records (which is also local so show your support). He raps from the heart and you can really feel it when you are listening. The title track is very good and one I know everyone will enjoy. My personal favorite is "Red Cup". I feel like it's a song that everyone can relate to. There's always "that girl" in someones life and you feel where he's coming from.
All and all it's a good mix tape and a great start to a career. Everyone should check out Cognition I guarantee you'll enjoy it.
